Land's end to John O'Groats

cycle ride - July to August 2006

Yes, we know, it's all downhill if you go from John O'Groats to Land's end. South to north is more popular because the prevailing wind is generally from the south, so we are more likely to have the wind behind us this way. However, one helpful book suggests keeping your eye on the weather forecast, and being prepared to swap your route at the last moment. However, the next paragraph in the book says to book everything up in advance.

We start by getting the train to Penzance, and then there is a 10 mile ride to Land's end.

We are basically following the CTC B&B route until we get to Inverness when we will follow the Sustrans route

Most of the way is on minor roads with a small amount on cycle tracks.
