Comments from Paul Martin:
If you are planning a wedding, Greenwich has some delightful venues for civil ceremonies. The splendid setting of the Painted Hall and of the Admiral’s House in the Old Royal Naval College as well as the Nelson Room in the Trafalgar Tavern and the Queen’s House are all licensed for civil weddings and can host the receptions.

Admirals House is one of the several impressive facilities available for your wedding at the Royal Naval College, at which I recently enjoyed the opportunity of photographing a civil wedding followed by a dinner reception. The four main rooms are situated at the end of a long building overlooking the Thames, and consists of 2 rooms at ground floor, suitable for seating 50 for a small intimate civil ceremony, followed by drinks reception. Upstairs, there is a room of lighter decor which can seat 50 people for the wedding dinner. The walls throughout both floors are littered with beautiful paintings of ships and maritime artifacts.

Photographing indoors was very good, upstairs in particular, as the large windows allow an ambundance of natural light to peel in. Thus, I was able to capture many non-intrusive reportage style photographs of wedding guests, and the after dinner speeches.

In addition to the indoor facilities the lawns, courtyards and colonnades provide further flexibility to create stunning and memorable photographs. I have no hesitation in recommending Admirals House at the Royal Naval College, as a fantastic wedding venue in Greenwich, London.
