Comments from Paul Martin:
Situated in the heart of the Shirley Hills, Oaks Farm is a unique tranquil, period farmhouse. With its beautiful grounds, extensive lawns and a small lake, Oaks Farm house is an idyllic setting for weddings and other social events. It is possible to have your whole wedding celebration at Oaks farm, as it licensed for Civil Weddings.

The main feature is a traditionally restored Barn which seats up to 120 guests. Dating from 1800, with exposed beams, it is appointed to the very highest standards of comfort without detracting from its authenticity. The main barn is oak-floored with a terracotta-tiled reception area.

The addition of the stylish, contemporary Orangery makes this a venue with unrivalled facilities, including a delightful Cottage, with its own kitchen, sitting room and bedroom where the bride and groom can stay on their wedding night.

The Pavilion is another facility for larger weddings at Oaks Farm. This lovely marquee adjoining The Orangery may be used to accommodate a total of 150 for dining. Alternatively, you may wish to use it as a quiet sitting area, a creche or as an additional reception room for drinks and canapes.

I thoroughly enjoyed the occasion of photographing a summer wedding at Oaks Farm. The main highlights for me were the attractively landscaped grounds around the small pond, and, benches which came in very handy for arranging family group wedding photographs. The lawns and characterful fences overlooking surrounding farmland provided great props conveying a distinctly ‘rural feel’ to some of the bride & groom portraits. Overall, my coverage combined a sensible mix of informal journalistic style photographs, with a few family portraits, as well as some creative portraits, both in colour and Black & white.

Oaks Farm is truly a fantastic wedding venue in the South London/ Croydon area, and one where there are great opportunities for producing memorable photographs. I recommend this venue very highly.
